What We Do Wren is a Devon based music events organisation. We got out to people, we listen to what they want and see what's going on and we make things happen.
Education The programme can deliver skills/techniques workshops in folk music and related disciplines as ends in themselves, or using folk song and music to illuminate other areas of curriculum. Wren has a commitment to lifelong learning in all its forms and works with all ages in a variety of educational, social and health settings Open Access Performance Groups There's nothing more entertaining than the summer musical festivals, so next time your out camping or trying to locate your tent at your next music festival remember to bring along some glow sticks with you in order to stand out from the crowd and find your tent safely! Don't stop there, glow sticks and music go hand-in-hand, let the entertainment begin! Mobile phones and music are especially attractive to the youth of our country. They are now so important that many children would not leave the house without them. The staggering growth of ringtones sales are truly amazing. Billions of pounds were spent on them in 2008 and the vast majority of those buying these are people under the age of 30. Popular music is becoming increasingly featured in many free online games which are played by millions of people all over the world each day. In particular there are a set of puzzle games that have terrific sounds effects such as the balloon game which is all about popping as many balloons as you can with a monkey, try for yourself and see if you can overcome the many tricky levels available. The new big thing in musical entertainment for stag weekends is the 'Pop Video stag party'. For most, it's a unique chance to put you and the stag group in your favourite rock stars' shoes and spend a stag weekend learning the dance moves and air guitar sequences to the stag's favourite song. Just as popular with hen and stag do's, the fully produced pop video arrives on DVD at the end of the stag weekend's fun The music industry is under extreme pressure. On one end, online music has put a pressure on recording revenues. On the touring front, costs have sky rocketed and due to the economy, the concert goer with a thin wallet is simply picking a choosing where they spend their ticket money. The result has been less attendance. If you're looking for very good entertainment, you should try Vegas. They have some fantastic music shows in Las Vegas. You can find tickets and good reviews at LasVegas.me . It is a good idea to book a music ticket in good time so they are not sold out as some of the Vegas concerts are very popular. Join in the fun at the next Wren Music festival when every instrument played will be available at the music booth. It's a great way to support our musical efforts. For every $10 spent on Musical Instruments Ornaments for Kids the Community Arts Development project will benefit with 50% of the profits returned to the festival. There are violin ornament gifts, folk song instruments, and antique music ornaments for sale. One of the great aspects of entertainers lives is that of the way they increase their awareness through charitable works, Sarah Mendly has long been involved with such work and has put considerable effort into works for children. Watching a video of your band at home with a decent sound system to many takes them back if they have seen them live. These days with digital services from sky, virgin, bt, etc whats on through your tv guide is easy to find out, all the digital sevices offer mtv, vh1 and more. Some, like virgin, let you have music on demand and build your own play lists so you can listern and watch at your lesiure. One of the most entertaining times of year though is always Christmas. Who amongst us doesn't look forward to seeing those pretty icicle lights twinkling in the cold air whilst we get that last minute shopping done. Buskers and street vendors adding to the atmosphere. Wren have written many education articles about the work they do in the community, how to help and encourage children to get involved in music and performance from an early age, how other communities can get involved or set up their own music events, as well as on the history of folk music, particularly in Devon and the west country. Many of these articles can still be read at sites such as http://www.uk-articles.co.uk/ and other relevant article sites. There are a range of articles not just aimed at educating children, but all age ranges right up to groups in retirement homes who want to learn about and get involved in the performing arts and in particular music.
